How to Prevent Rain From Falling on Fancy Guitars!

Hola La Gente Feliz, the weather prediction for our upcoming 12/24 concert is now up to 100% in favor of rain. Last year it started out bearable and progressed to downright dangerous with the mix of electricity and water. We learned our lesson and this year we’ve got a solution.

For this year’s concert we are going to play in the L’Auberge Del Mar’s Diamond Ballroom. This is the hotel next to the park where the concert is usually held. Our thanks to Betty at the Del Mar Foundation and to the good folks at the L’Auberge Del Mar for pulling this off. It’ll be a hoot!

We’ve been doing this event for 46 years now (can you believe it!) and it’s a mix of great music, super cool friends, family, and new acquaintances. Together we rally in the lofty life of a California Christmas with no snow but tons of good vibes.

The concert will feature an entourage of spirited musicians and they are:

Peter Sprague — guitar
Leonard Patton — vocals
Allison Adams Tucker — vocals
Tripp Sprague — sax and flute
Danny Green — piano
Fred Benedetti — guitar and vocals
Justin Grinnell — bass
Duncan Moore — drums
Kate Sprague — vocals
Regina Benedetti — vocals
Julia Benedetti — vocals
The Long View — vocals and guitar
Riley Fleck — drums

News Alert
This year we’re hiring a sound company so that they make us sound good and they can deal with the ten thousand cables. All we have to deal with is ten thousand notes and turn them into magic. This is the way it should be.

The good folks at the Del Mar Foundation have sponsored this part of the event.

We’re also welcoming donations (if you feel inspired) to help fund the musos who are making this event sparkle.

These Christmas Eve concerts started way back in 1978 and if you’re so inclined, click here to read a story about the early days in Del Mar when we played our first holiday concert. This article is from the Del Mar Sandpiper Newspaper.

Del Mar on Christmas Eve — how it looks from the audience. One of the sunny days…

You can bring the whole gang, bring the relatives, meet strangers that are friendly and meet musicians that are strange. This is how we do Christmas in Cali!

See you there!
