Hello Good People!
The gig world has been a little light for the last 2 weeks but we’re coming into a nice flow of concerts and under the radar private events. Happiness is playing the guitar…
I’ve been working in the studio on some final tweaks of a new Beatles album that’ll surface around Christmas time. It’s been some quality time hanging with the London Four.
Coming up live this week is a trio hit on Friday night at the always soulful Ki’s Restaurant in Cardiff. We eat, we melt into the sunset, and then regain consciousness and strike up the band. Join in if you can!
Coming up next week, on Saturday 10/4/2025 in the early evening the “Peter Sprague Six” (that’s me plus five extremely gifted musos) play a concert at the new Fox Point Farm in Leucadia. This is a new development that has a farm complete with some farm animals, a restaurant, a country store, and an outdoor stage. You’re all invited for a wonderful music moment basking in the last glow of summer. Look below for details…
Also cooking along next week is the Second Annual San Diego Tijuana Jazz Festival on October 2–5, 2025. This 3-day, cross-border celebration showcases the musical richness of our region, with internationally acclaimed artists lighting up stages across the border.
Featuring:
Arturo O’Farrill & the Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble
James Moody @ 100 – David Sánchez, John & Gerald Clayton, Lewis Nash, Holly Hofmann, Gilbert Castellanos
Lucía
Gabrielle Cavassa
I’m not playing the festival but I’m good friends with the festival promoter and the musos that’ll be playing. It’ll cook, that’s for sure and I’d be there if I could but it’s a busy gigging weekend for me.

The last item of business on this hopefully informative missive is a cruise through the sonic landscape of Dave Grusin’s Caribbean flavored “El Conuco.” It’s Latin jazz with both bop melodies and montuno grooves at play.
This performance is from a livestream concert that we played in September 2024.
Here’s the band:
Peter Sprague — guitar
Danny Green — piano
Justin Grinnell — bass
Duncan Moore — drums
Tripp Sprague — flute
