Greetings Fine Folks,
It turns out that there’s a hurricane off the coast of Baja that finally moved enough to the west to make the swells from the storm reach Southern California. This is heaven for us surfers as the water is still warm and the waves are strong.
The last couple of days have been all about squeezing in some surf sessions between the gigs and the never ending flow of incoming business related emails. Sometimes I wish that AI could figure out how to politely answer all those emails and organize my schedule in a sane manner. Maybe we’ll get digital Bryan to tackle that idea and I’ll go out for a second surf session.
We’ve got a nice concert scheduled for Saturday night this week. We’re playing at 5 PM at the Fox Point Farms in Encinitas off of Leucadia Boulevard. It’s an interesting set up with a restaurant, an open grass area, a market, and an actual farm complete with farm animals. We’re playing next to the farm in an outdoor stage area and we’ve got the six of us lined up to strum some classic Brazilian tunes, jazz tunes, The Beatles, and one of the great songs of all time, “Wichita Lineman.” It should be a really fun night of music with the just perfect late summer weather on tap. Look below for details and we hope to see you there.

For the video this week we present “Corcovado.”
The beauty of Jobim and the bossa nova — perfecto is the groove, the “just the right amount” of colorful harmony, with chill poetry and the supreme melodic line. I’m a mega fan in case you can’t tell.
The band:
Peter Sprague — guitar
Allison Adams Tucker — vocals
Danny Green — piano
Tripp Sprague — sax
Beth Ross Buckley — flute
Justin Grinnell — bass
Duncan Moore — drums
This song is also available on our 2025 “Estrada do Sol” streaming release:
