70 Years of Wisdom Yanked Free!

Dear Friends of Sound,

There were many highlights last week but rising to the top of memorable moments was the yanking out of my wisdom teeth. All four of them! They’ve been good to me for 70 years but at a recent dentist appointment I was advised to just let them break free and leave a little more room at the back of my mouth.

It was a miraculous procedure with full on magic immersion into the unknown (anesthesia) and waking up and later not remembering a darn thing. One half of the day melted away from my memory and it was a good thing. And with all that went on while I was asleep, no pain afterwards and still no pain.

Gotta love when it goes right…

The mighty trio rides again this Thursday night at Ki’s Restaurant in Cardiff. The gigs there usually are on Friday nights but because of Halloween this week the show will be on Thursday night. Danny is on piano, Justin Grinnell is on bass, and me on the double neck guitar. I’m pretty sure it’ll be a hoot and please join in if you can!

For this week’s video we feature the final track from our Jobim album. Danny and I teamed up to play one of my original songs and the inspiration for “Saudade de Voce” came to me while I was just waking up in Denmark. I had been listening to Jobim the night before and also studying a Chopin etude. These elements came together to help shape my song and it’s a gentle trek into the landscape of bossa nova Brazil.

Peter Sprague — guitar
Danny Green — piano

This song is also available on our 2025 “Estrada do Sol” streaming release:

One last thing, over at my webstore I’ve altered some code and now a bunch of my music books that were previously only for sale in hardcopy are now also available as downloads. This all happens over at here.

That’s the story until now and loving the “no mouth pain” refrain, best, P
