Where ‘Ya Gonna Park That Car?

G ood on ‘ya Friends!

We had some fun last weekend playing at the PB Library. Thanks to all of you who made it out. We discovered a few things — Pacific Beach in the summer is a full on zero parking world with the entire town grooving at the beach. We barely pulled it off with Mack saving the day with his dual gifts of bass playing plus avatar skills at valet parking. Fredrico lucked into semi close parking and that heightened his flamenco skills on the guitar. Really great music and we can’t wait to do it again (omit the parking hassles).

Doing it again for us this week on Saturday, it’s our return performance at Leonard’s Jazz Lounge in San Diego. We played it a few months back and I LOVE the setup there that he’s created. Folks are into full on listening, the sound is good, he’s rustled up some great food, and once again, the music is allowed to soar.

It’s Leonard singing, Johnny ‘O on piano, the well oiled rhythm machine of Duncan and Justin, and me on the guitar. We’re planning music by Metheny, Me, Cream, The Beatles, and Booker T. Jones. It’ll be fun and hoping you can join in. Look below for the fine print.

Today’s new single song video release originates from our time exploring the music of Cream. We’ve got the iconic rock tune “Sunshine Of Your Love” set in a whole new light.

Arco bass, classical style blends into Eric Clapton’s rock riff reharmonized as if Chick Corea was at the helm. Leonard enters espousing the lyrics as if it was some beat poet gathering. I’m laughing now! Next, the recognizable bridge emerges leading us to a Weather Report-ian vista, and then Leonard passes it on to Duncan to “play Toad” which tongue and cheek-ian refers to Ginger Baker’s herculean 13 minute drum odyssey on “Toad” documented on Cream’s “Fresh Cream” record.

Dig it…

And going along with how we envision this in a live concert setting, “Sunshine Of Your Love” leads right into “SWLABR.”

Try forming that word in your mouth. It’s an acronym for:

She walks like a bearded rainbow

Of course! I could of thought of that!

Classic Cream song with a stellar rock riff, extendo guitar solo including a looping segment, Tripp on sax is tripping, and Leonard channeling some true blue Jack Bruce vocals. Super cool!

These two songs are also available on our new album project “Sunshine of Your Love.”
