The June Gloom Antidote

Hi Good People, James Taylor is filling the air this cloudy morning!

He sings,

“The light of a tropical moon on a night to remember,
In every note, the antidote, to December”

His voice is stellar and the background vocals add the finishing touch to a great record. It’s his new one, out yesterday, called Before This World. I’m loving it!

I had a free moment last week to record a new version of the Beatles classic tune “In My Life.” I had the video cameras there too and here it lives, ready to kick into gear at YouTube:

And if you’re a player and want to follow along, the sheet music for my arrangement is available online right here.

Up for this week, on Thursday night we’re heading for the Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego to play some jazz around the swimming pool. They have a summertime jazz series and we’re honored to be in the loop. It’ll be Gunnar on bass, Duncan on drums, and me on the guitar. Sounds fun and hope to see you there…

I’ve got an interesting day on Saturday that begins with an 11 am outdoor concert in La Jolla with guitarist Fred Benedetti. We’re part of the La Jolla Arts Festival and we’re playing two sets on the main stage. Right after this gig is over I zip over to the airport and catch a flight to Chicago. On Sunday I’m playing with vocalist Dianne Reeves at an event sponsored by the Indigo Foundation. It’ll be the whole band and it’s always a thrill to hear Dianne sing!

Back home Monday and this cherished life continues on. Hope to see you out there soon.
