Super Dark with Purple Lighting!

G reetings Good People!

It was a wonderful Sunday that just happened and the whole gang got together and played warped out Cole Porter music at Tio Leo’s in San Diego. That venue is so fun to make music in — super attentive and listening audience, great sound, super dark with purple lighting, lots of folks in attendance, and Mexican food right after the gig as we packed up our gear. It was magic and I can’t wait to play there again!

Coming up this Saturday we’re playing an intimate house concert in La Jolla. We start at 3pm and there will be a wine and cheese hangout too. It’s me, Danny Green on piano, and Mack Leighton on bass. Super fun and we’re working on a few new songs.

There are only 4 tickets left and we’d love to have you with us so if you’re interested, act fast and email me and we’ll work out the details.

On Sunday we’re driving out east to play a 4pm concert at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. The band is me, Allison Adams Tucker singing, Danny on piano, and Mack on bass. The set will be music by Paul Simon, a few by me, Beatles of course, Carole King, and Hoagy Carmichael. Look below for the concert details and we hope to see you there.

Today I’ve added a new YouTube single vid from the recent Coltrane livestream.

Here’s the backstory:

As a kid learning to play jazz guitar I was searching for a mentor to help guide my direction in music. Of course there were the great jazz guitarists— Wes Montgomery, Charlie Christian, Jim Hall and Joe Pass but the wild thing was, in the very next room my brother Tripp was listening to his saxophone mentors and they really caught my attention. He was into Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane and these three musicians became the focus of my studies.

Fast forward a bunch of years, I composed a song with wicked chord changes and decided to name it after John Coltrane and simply titled it “Coltrane.” We first recorded this tune on my Na Pali Coast album for Concord Records and here you go with our updated version.

And that is today’s news and I hope to see you soon, best, Peter
