Summer Scorcher Christmas Songs

Greetings Friends! I’m just back from a weekend zip trip to Charleston, South Carolina. Humid, warm, summer scorcher already in place. What a great spot with a charming downtown, fancy restaurants, expansive parks with Farmers Market activity, sidewalk music, and for us, a great outdoor concert. Dianne and the band sounded amazing and there’s nothing quite like her soulful vocals floating into the humid Savannah night, making their way up to the full moon.

Today and into the week we’re thinking Christmas music as pianist Scott Wilkie and the band descend on SpragueLand. That’s how you do it if you want the CD to come out on time for Christmas. Big Fun embracing summer Yuletide classics…

To break up the daytime recording times I’ll be heading out into the world to lay it down LIVE. First up, on Tuesday night, I’m playing a free solo concert at the Rancho San Diego Library. It’s a great spot to hear music and I’ve got some new tunes worked out for the show — “Dream Walkin’”, “Voltar Para Casa”, and “In My Life”. Hope to see you…

From there, next up I’ll be close to home returning to my favorite Roxy Restaurant in Encinitas on Thursday night. It’s been a while and I miss the place. Looking forward to the cool “regulars” and the gigantic chef’s salad with tahini dressing. Killer blendo of all the right things…

On Friday night, the masterful Gilbert Castellanos and young bass man Mack Leighton will lay down the groove as I have the privilege of improvising some jazz lines, weaving and swerving, taking it all in. We’ll be at the Westgate Hotel with its ultra-intimate listening setting. Hope you can make it out…

Last on the music list for the week, vocalist Leonard Patton and I will play the gorgeous Solterra Winery on Sunday evening. Our new CD is almost complete, we’re just putting the final touches on the album design, and we can’t wait to let it launch into the world. In the meantime, we’ll launch some of the album music into the summer Leucadian night and hopefully into your ears while you take a few sips of the magic Solterra wine. Great combo of sounds and tastes and we hope to see you there…
