Possibly Loosing Friends at Thanksgiving Dinner!

Hi Solid Folks of the Holidays!

We recently played a livestream show from my studio highlighting the music in the era of artist Frida Kahlo. Gorgeous Mexican folk songs jazzed up were on the menu and I further ventured out and composed a new piece for the occasion. I modeled it after one of Frida’s most notable works called “The Two Fridas.” Her piece is a double self portrait with her image on the left dressed in European style Victorian dress while the Frida on the right is dressed in traditional indigenous garb. The two figures are holding hands suggesting the acceptance of the dualities of life — the happy life / the tragedies of life.

I pulled our version of “The Two Fridas” out from the livestream and now it’s a video single. Check ‘er out if you can:

Mack plays a cool bowed bass solo and Fred and Beth are cooking along on the Latin groove on the 2nd half of the song. I’m not sure it fits into the holiday music genre but maybe play it as everyone’s sitting around for Thanksgiving dinner and watch the reaction. Hah, you may loose friends!

That’s the story for now and I’ll be back at the beginning of next week with more music…all best, Peter
