Nonstop Slopfest!

Greetings Friends, the gig email is coming up short and sweet this week as the recording studio bustles and the woodshed is yelling out, “loads of new music to learn for the upcoming gigs.” Also, the surf is up a little after a month of nonstop slopfest— one to two foot mini’s with fluxing water temps. Summer, what’s happening, yo?

In addition to heaps of studio work and gigs, this broken wired Urei compressor went ballistic during a session last week and added into the mix of too much to do. Turns out, re-soldering the blue connectors saved the day, saved the music, and saved a trip to the repair place.

Last week I played at the new Roxy and here's Peter Merrell playing cajon and Johnny "Harp" Minchin on the harmonica joining in for the 2nd set. Lots of potential for future gigs there but first they need to work on the acoustics of the room to take some of the "live-ness" out.

It’s a Peter and Leonard music weekend coming up! First we’re playing at the Harbor Breakfast Music Hall in Little Italy on Saturday night. A month back I played this spot solo and had a wonderful time. It’s run by an old friend of mine from way back when I lived at the Go-Home off of Carmel Valley Road in Del Mar. Ted is the architect that designed the crazy house and now he’s opened this cool breakfast spot downtown. During the week in the mornings it’s all about ham and eggs but come Saturday night it’s jazz that’s on the menu. Pretty cool scene and we’re hoping you can come out and hang with us in the city!

Leonard will be there singing and playing cajon!

On Sunday late afternoon Leonard and I are taking the music outside and we’ll be playing at the Del Mar Plaza with the ocean as our backdrop. Magic setup and free music in the heart of Babylonia (that’s what we call Del Mar these days). Come and be part of the revolution!
