Low End Overload!

H i Friends, coming to you on Monday from SpragueLand as the beat goes on.

A couple of days ago brother Tripp and I went and heard/saw Jacob Collier play at the outdoor amphitheater at San Diego State. Incredible music and stellar vibe including so much low end coming out of the sub speakers you could feel it in your chest as it rearranged internal organs. Maybe a little bit too much low end overload but magic music nonetheless. Look him up if you will and sample “Little Blue.”

Joni sings:

“Call her Green, and the winters cannot fade her
Call her Green for the children who’ve made her
Little Green, be a gypsy dancer”

This is one of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs and for me it captures some of what Joni was going through when she was younger and gave up her daughter for adoption. It’s on her “Blue” record and is one of the great moments of music.

Today we release our new video of our version of “Little Green” and we’ve got Aubrey Johnson swirling in the influence of Joni—high and sweet, gorgeous…

The band:

Peter Sprague — guitar
Aubrey Johnson — vocals
Danny Green — piano
Mack Leighton — electric bass
Duncan Moore — drums

We’ll be going live two times this week playing our Jobim program. It’s bossa nova groove mixed with infectious harmony with song stories delivered in Porteguese, the language of beauty. For these concerts we’ll explore the full spectrum of Antonio’s vast collection of songs including, “Agua De Beber,” “Wave,” “Waters of March,” “Girl From Ipanema,” “Desifinado,” “One Note Samba,” and the list goes on. Because I wanted to include them all I’ve even put together a mega medley that touches down to various gorgeous locales of Jobim. Almost hilarious!

We’ll be at the La Jolla Community Center on 5/24 and then again at Tio Leo’s on 5/26.

The band is:

Peter Sprague — guitar
Allison Adams Tucker — vocal
Danny Green — piano
Justin Grinnell — bass
Duncan Moore — drums (on Tio Leo’s gig only)

Look below for the details and what fun!

All the best folks, Peter
