Yes indeed the surf culture has been surfing as the waves have been UP. Mix that in with Bad Bunny’s infectious half time salsa fest and life is once again sweet as can be.
I’ve been working on a batch of new original compositions and I’m rounding the bend getting them recorded. It’ll be a nice time coming up to share them with you. I’ll let you know when they’re complete.
We’re gigging on Thursday night at Meraki in South Park and it’ll be one of the last hits we do before Leonard whisks off to the great unknown with super star Pat Metheny and his group. We’ve got the great gang of musos lined up with Danny Green on piano, Justin Grinnell on bass, Leonard on vocals and percussion, and me on the guitar. Fun ahead and look for the details below if you can make it.
For this week’s vid release let me introduce our version of “She’s Leaving Home.” This is one of my favorite Beatles songs and many years ago I came up with the arrangement and recorded a solo guitar version for my “Peter Sprague Plays Solo” album. The song just flows along in pure beauty and for me it evokes the bitter sweet moment where my wife and I dropped off our daughter for her first year of college. Both sad and happy all rolled into one.
Tripp takes a fantastic EWI solo and even checks his phone for an incoming text during the climax. Hah!
