Leaning into Christmas

H ello Solid Citizens!

It’s going well over here at the music house known as SpragueLand with grandiose guitar-ing, mixing and fixing, new singles vid creation, making albums that disappear into the vast void of Spotify, and lest we not forget, daydreaming.

I’m having fun!

Today we announce a new album release that has a good chance of stirring up a smile. It’s called “Christmas Time Is Here — Peter Sprague Plays Vince Guaraldi.”

The American composer and jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi is renowned for jazzing up the sound score of the Peanuts gang’s story about the true meaning of Christmas. His album was released in 1965 and remains a classic to this day.

That brings us up to now and it’s me and Charlie Brown meeting in the middle for some holiday jazz. Let your yule tide spirits soar as I spin some of my inspirational arranging moves into Vince’s gems.

The band includes some of the best with:

Allison Adams Tucker — vocals
Beth Ross Buckley — flute
Tripp Sprague —sax and flute
Danny Green — piano
Mack Leighton — bass
Duncan Moore —drums
Peter Sprague — guitar

Here are the songs:

In the month of December we’re playing the Charlie Brown Jingles and Jazz program on several dates and locations. This is the same band and the same music as the new album.

The best place to hear the music will be on 12/15 and 12/16 (two nights) at The Conrad in La Jolla. Oh my, what a venue with great sound and visuals that are absolute stellar. Plus you’re right in the heart of La Jolla and the window shopping and dinner options are plentiful.

Look below for the details.

And the last news of the week, we’re playing this Thursday night at Ki’s Restaurant in Cardiff. Usually they have music on Friday nights but they are making a special Thursday night exception for us. It’ll be Allison on vocals along with Danny on piano, Justin on bass, and me on the double neck guitar.

Super North county good living ahead!

There it is friends and see you soon, Peter
