Dear Fine Citizens!
“It’s getting better all the time (it can’t get no worse).”
So said The Beatles and we believe them. There’s a ton of potential hope on the horizon and we want to make some music to celebrate that sentiment.
This week on Sunday we’re rallying the troops and here’s what we’ve got.
In the years past, on Christmas eve, we put on an outdoor concert in Del Mar featuring all of our friends and we basked in the warm community of jazz. With that same intent in mind, this year with all of it’s weirdness, we’re instead going to be broadcasting love, music, and positivity from the covid safe confines of SpragueLand. Each member of the band is in their own room feeling the intimacy with the other bandmates through the wizardry of modern tech—(headphones to hear, mic’s to project, cams for all of you to see.) Two of the three vocalists will actually be singing in the great outdoors with passing trains included! It’ll be grand fun with samba, Beach Boys, Beatles, Billie Holliday, Cole Porter, a few originals, and some original takes on classic holiday songs.
The band includes some of the best with Leonard Patton, Rebecca Jade, and Allison Adams Tucker on vocals; Tripp Sprague on sax/flute and piano; Gunnar Biggs on bass; Duncan Moore on drums; and Peter Sprague on guitar. Plus guest appearances from Fred and the Benedetti’s and Kate Sprague singing I Am A Walrus.
For the benefit of Mr. Kite
