jazz guitarist and composer
Test Test
The idea is we gather our muso friends, put on a live concert, and rally with you, good people both far and wide, in the lofty life of a California Christmas with zero snow but tons of good vibes and buckets full of saltwater.
It’s a long lasting tradition of ours to present these shows (it all started in 1978, over 40 years ago!) If you’re so inclined, click here to read a story about the early days in Del Mar when we played our first holiday concert. This article is from the Del Mar Sandpiper Newspaper.
For this livestream show we explore the outer realms of holiday music. As the title suggests, Parson Brown, from “Winter Wonderland” fame, grants us permission to go mental into the aural realm. This we shall and the first stop is how jazz, Vince Guaraldi, Charlie Brown, and Christmas music met up and changed the landscape of the holidays. For the better we think and it’ll be a hoot sharing “Christmas Time is Here,” “Christmas Time is Coming,” and our blues tinged version of Vince’s “Linus and Lucy” with you. That’s a start and we then travel to Leonard singing Stevie Wonder, Allison sharing the predicament of Paul Simon’s love life with “Cecilia,” and Lisa proclaiming “spinning to infinity, hallelujah!”
And we’ll probably end the show with a samba-fied “Winter Wonderland.”
Parson Brown would approve.
